What is this SMB wall made of?
Hi folks,
Does anyone know what this wall material is? I'm referring to the white "smooth" part of the walls. It kind of looks like white Formica, but I imagine "plain" Formica would be too thin/brittle, right? My SMB had the woodgrain walls, and maybe it was the same material, but I never knew exactly what it was. You can see there is some sort of edge molding where the panels join (on the far left), if that's any clue.
Here is a photo (nice van, btw!) showing the wall type I mean.

I changed mine and took 4mm plywood. To get it the white color i took a spezial wax. It is breathable and flexible so it can not peel of. But it is absolutl wiping resistant

Re: What is this SMB wall made of?
I was thinking it might be something like that. Only thing is, there I only see a creamy white and it's discontinued at that (and/or is CA only, which wouldn't include Indiana or Texas). Also, that's usually got a sort of "lineny" texture that just screams "RV" to me (whereas SMB's walls don't, at least not in white).
I may just try calling SMB, but I thought I'd ask here first since it's for my current non-SMB rig and so I hate to bother them.

Re: What is this SMB wall made of?
mine isnt an smb, but the inside was lined with either this stuff: http://www.lowes.com/pd_16605-46498-300 ... 015239#img
or this stuff: http://www.lowes.com/pd_61082-46498-310 ... t=paneling
i still have the roof piece i could take better pix of if needed since the ones lowes have dont really show you much detail. stuff is around a 1/4" thick and is brown everywhere but the face.

Re: What is this SMB wall made of?
I think Melamine is a good bet, since the (wood look, granted) walls in my SMB just didn't seem thick enough to be Formica with a backing, and I think un-backed Formica would crack.
That said, I'm not sure I have seen a source for something like white Melamine on a thin (1/8" or less) backing board. Maybe I just don't shop in the right places though? I can try a few searches though now that I have that to specifically look for.

That would be my guess as well. I got mine at a real lumber yard, not a big box store, or places that supply the cabinet industry. I use it for drawer bottoms.

Re: What is this SMB wall made of?
I think I looked when I was at Lowe's and Home Depot (sad lack of real lumber yards) and theirs was shiny - kind of like a dry erase white board. I'm hoping to find more of a matte surface like in the SMB. I do appreciate all the info.
If/when I do find out (I may call SMB and just ask quickly), I will post back.
