We had (just lost him) a 75lb Auzzie who loved riding in the passenger seat. The ultra-leather shows no sign of paw marks. Holds up great.

Sometimes Luna relaxes from the rigors of herding the SMB:

This goes on for 10 min then its look out the window then sleep then play again. Now I know why the blanket is always on the floor when we stop for a rest.

Re: Where does your dog ride?

From the Way-Back machine (Oregon coast, circa 2006, when I owned a real SMB before (regrettably) selling it to work abroad):

Please note that this is when we weren't in motion.

In motion, Zacky (80 lb. driver) sprawled on the RB50 sofa. Tory Ann (65 lb. shotgun) curled up on her shotgun seat (unless she wanted the sofa, in which case she stared Zacky into submission, and because he didn't fit on the shotgun seat, he just lay on the floor or stood between the seats, unhappy.)

[That said, I acknowledge that I was being irresponsible since they weren't tethered or crated. They had really good car manners, but nonetheless in a crash could be thrown and severely injured. In my daily-drive Explorer, they always rode in firmly anchored crates.]

Also, my first homebrew van (1995 E150 RB cargo van) had four large crates (earlier Weimaraner generations) bolted in with the bed on top of three crates running lengthwise behind the driver....

Very cute, and 100% trouble.

great looking pup. Unfortunately my Aussie usually stays home cause she stays muddy and sheds too much for my van cleanliness complex.

Re: Where does your dog ride?

Congrats on the new puppy Charlie. We had an Aussie for 14 years (lost him in December), phenomenal dog. He loved camping trips so much there was no way we could ever leave him at home.

We got an Australian Labradoodle a couple weeks ago (he is now 13 weeks old). I can't wait to camp with him and our Portuguese Water dog.

Herb
A bit more of an exact blood line than a "standard" Labradoodle. Several generations old and besides the obvious Poodle and Labradore mix, they include some Wheaton Terrier and Cocker Spaniel. They also controlled the size with this breed, so a "medium" (what we have) will be in the the 40 - 50 lb range.

Here is a picture from a couple weeks ago.

Snorkel is 2.5 year old Portuguese Water Dog. Hops is a 10 week old Australian Labradoodle.
