I got my Fiamma mounted and it rocks ... I'm looking forward to camping in the rain or sun! Mounting was pretty straight-forward, following other people's experiences in this forum. A couple of comments from my experience:
- on the forward and rear brackets, I put the shorter leg of the backing plate in the gutter. On the middle bracket, putting the longer leg in the gutter positioned all three brackets in better alignment.
- my Fiamma is not exactly vertical ... it leans out about 3/16". If it bothers me, I'll remove and bend the brackets back a little.
- after it was installed, my Fiamma didn't quite close on the side opposite the crank. There is an adjustment outlined in the manual, and two-clicks of that adjustment got it to close evenly.

Correct installation?
Looking for some advice.
Making sure that this middle bracket is installed correctly.
Also was wondering if there needs to be any concern about the fiberglass top being stressed from the bracket? This is a 1995 top and it bows out a bit in the middle. With the bracket in place it takes up some of the gutter room that the top filled up putting some pressure on the fiberglass.

Hi Cadillac, from the picture, it looks like it is mounted correctly. Most of the SMB tops I have seen have more clearance than the CCV tops (like we have). I have not heard of any one's top being "stressed". The brackets can be bent a little to provide more clearance, if needed. Just make sure to bend them in a vice, NOT while mounted on the gutters.
If, still concerned, post or send me close up pics of what you are seeing, and I will let you know what else I might see. Thanks! Ray

Yep! I have only three sets of Awning Z Brackets left right now, ready to ship. Still have some Door Talons and Aluminess Box Shelves left also!
FYI - If you are in the east or mid-west, I can get the Fiamma awnings at a good price shipped to you. If you are on the west coast, - SMB West or Aluminess have the best prices if you can pick the awning up.
Awning Brackets: Price is $190
Door Talon/Claw: Price is $45
and includes shipping via US Priority Mail to US addresses.
Payment: Via PayPal** to searay230@gmail.com .

What's your demarcation between west coast and mid-west?
I've got your brackets and will be sourcing an awning. Seem like the gold standard is 10' but has anyone gone with an 8' and been happy? Just curious as I prepare to eat $200 in shipping.

Hey JoeH, Don't you need to do a road trip to San Diego??
Shoot me your zip and I will get a quote. Business address is less expensive.
re: 8 vs 10 ft -- 10 ft is really a sweet spot, even on an RB. What is the thought re: 8 ft?

None really, other than I over-think it like most everything else.
I wonder if I can work something out with someone coming to the Overland Expo here in Flagstaff.
