Have sprinter, will get pop top in July!

Hi there!

I've been building out a cargo, low roof, 4x4, 144 sprinter for a couple of months now and excited to have a pop top installed on July 15!

Glad to meet all the folks out there with some experience in this.

Doug

Most will agree the CCV top is better. However, Fresno is probably closer than CO and the sprinter pop top has a pretty good mattress in it. The tops for econolines have a very thin mattress.

I have heard good things about the CCV product, but honestly I'm scared of the customer service and the install of the CCV. If they had good reviews of the installation process I'd probably choose CCV.

Good to hear the sprinter has a decent mattress. How do you find information like that? The Sportsmobile doesn't have the greatest list of info on specifics.

I did have a question on the height of the canvas for the penthouse. I will be making my own insulated liners (it sounds like the ~$700 SMB canvas isn't much) and I'd love to know the dimensions, height and width of each of the panels.

I have just seen the interior of SMB's sprinter bed. The mattress is about 4" thick as opposed to my econoline mattress which is 2" thick.

I had a great experience with CCV. However, they did a full interior buildout as well as the pop top and had the van for 6 weeks. The best part about their bed is that it's tall enough to fully sit up up there.

Where did you get the top popped and how much headroom do you have between the top of the bed and the ceiling of the van?

From sports mobile west in Fresno . But that was last summer and they do not exist anymore.

It’s 24” between the mattress and roof.

They are a new company now called Field Vans and still do the poptops. How is the 24" of headroom working out for you? I'm considering getting one of their poptops.
