Several posts lately about people needing to replace their V10's. Just curious if you'll share what failure you've experienced that's requiring you to replace the entire engine?

Sounds like whatever happened has caused you to lose confidence in the V10 if you're considering a swap to diesel like the OP.

New meaning reman. They don't make new anymore do they?

As mentioned, looking at options. Doesn't have to be a 6.0 just like to know what's out there these days. Cummins would be great. Anyone on here done that yet? I have been out of it for a bit....

Ford still makes the V10 in crate units. The fleet shop where I work just replaced 4 last year going into this year!

That's good to know. Wonder why the the dealer told me different? Maybe they make better margin on the remans?

What's your concern with a reman? Any parts that don't meet new-spec are simply replaced, and Ford has no requirements for core returns. When they run out of good core blocks, they just use a new one.

But more important, why do you think you need to replace yours?

I'll get the info this week about V10's within the last few months and I'll double check my comment of availability. I know we have replaced V10's and may be assuming it is Ford. I have a close friend that is parts manager I will check with and our fleet parts manager as well!

Confirmed, we have actually replaced 8 in the last year! High mileage, abuse, ect... Fairview Ford in San Bernardino is our source but try Capistrano Ford in San Juan Capistrano it's a little closer. Talk to Tom In parts.

Progress

Hello everyone,

I stopped by the shop today and brought Jason and the guys some pizza for lunch and had a chance to see the progress on the van. The motor and transmission are in and looking good. Thought I would share a picture.

Maybe next week we'll get to hear it run???
