Hello fellow Vanners

Wanted to say hi and maybe pick your brains. Last year I bought a 1983 Chevy G10 with a partial pop top. I have had a very hard time identifying the van and who did the work. I bought it from the original owner and have since bought a 1978 Chevy shortie. I am considering selling the 83 or maybe even puting the pop top on the 78. I was hoping someone might be able to identify the top. Still works and looks great.

I assume you're meaning the one up against the fence. Interesting but I've never seen anything like it.

Garage
Can you contact the original owner to see who did the top, assuming you still have there contact info?? Top looks pretty cool, if you pull the top on the G10 what would you do with the van? Scrap it or weld in a replacement roof? Wish I could be more help…

It has a sticker on it that says "pop top company". Unfortunately the gentleman i bought it from has passed away. It has a sink and extra battery hook up water and power hookups. It is pretty awesome but not what I was looking for I will post much better pictures.

The first 6 or 7 google book search results from the early to mid 70's are from popular science and popular mechanics. Has some interesting articles. Here's the link to the search results and a pic of a van with the same top.

Those old Field & Stream magazines are great. I just viewed the one from 1974. Now all I want to do is smoke, shoot some guns and go fishing.

Once again, I stand in awe of the power of the internet.
