Pics of the project

Spending the weekend going through my SMB 4x4. Getting pretty excited to figure out what all is here and what needs to be done.

Only question I have not been able to find info on is the last photo which if of the driver seat. This large black bar prevents the drivers seat from spinning. Why is it here, what does it do? Can I cut it so that the chair can spin?

Getting the engine work done this week to seal up some small leaks in the drive train. Then I am starting the prep on the exterior work. Also going to strip the top and reseal everything.

Thoughts, what upgrades should I consider?

Congratulations on the Van, you'll enjoy every day in it.

Loaded question you just presented, lot of very talented people here that could easily empty your bank account with suggestions. Comes down to what's important to you ???
In all the 4x4's I've owned through the years, my first purchase always seems to migrate to replacing the wheels & tires...always liked a new set of rubber under me that I can count on.
One of the best upgrades I've done are the Vantage Optics head lights - what a difference they make at night! Scott is also a member here.
If you like to be secluded from the crowds then I'd direct you to making sure you have sufficient auxiliary battery power & a good solar set-up.
*It's all just money anyway.

Congrats. Nice looking van.

You might consider driving it for a bit before deciding on too many upgrades. One thing many do is either upgrade the headlights or add additional lighting.

Health of batteries is always something to watch and with that the charging of batteries by AC, alternator/DC to DC, or solar.

After driving, you may decide to upgrade some element of the drivetrain/suspension.
