It's hard to cancel an older model that still sells well. An example of this is the Dodge Grand Caravan minivan. Production had been slated to end after 2016 with the new Pacifica. But three years later, it is still in production. Dodge sold almost 152K of them in 2018 in the US (the most of all minivan models by a fair amount - even the Pacifica), despite pretty much zero advertising. Introduced in 2008 and long since paid for, it's now a cash cow for FCA.

So as long as there are buyers for a V8 powered van chassis, I doubt Ford will stop building the E-series. I really like the idea of the Classic, but I don't want a pop-top. I want full-height all the time.
