Thinking of diving in....

What a great forum to lather one up to a full "I gotta get one now" froth!!! Thanks to all for posting such articulate and insightful commentary. I am going to take the plunge (sell the Tacoma and go Van) and am heavily leaning towards Ford E350 EB with the V10. Found one local that looks amazing and has really low mileage, lifted but not 4x4. But here is my question for you.....

If the van has a limo style conversion (TV's, hideous carpet, etc.) how difficult would it be to pull out and create a Sportsmobile camper style rig? Is it more work than its worth?

I was thinking I could replace flooring and have Agile convert to 4x4 as the first step. Then, get in the 1-2 year que at Sportsmobile (or like vendor) for pop-top and camper conversion.

Removing the interior and installing one that suits your needs can be easy or hard. Depends on your skill level with tools. The existing interior is probably bolted in. Just be careful of any electrical wiring and device you want to reuse.

Look at some of the build threads in the Homemade SMB - Ground Up Builds section of the forum for ideas. It will also give you a taste of the work involved.

Where are you located? There may be a member close that will show you their van.

Taking down a discoball is not that hard at all!!

Really it's about $$, Skill, and time.

I bought a window Cargo Van, Agile Converted it, and tomorrow I have an appointment and SMB for the pop top. The rest I will do myself. I do have resources though and am reasonably good at designing stuff and copying other people's.
