Well, now I'm in trouble...

We just got started, bought a 2000 E350 V10 standard van this weekend. I've been soaking up knowledge off here for a while. Intend to convert this to 4x4 and a high top.

Planning on a light camper build, just bed, counter/sink, and fridge.

You should know that all threads are best started with pictures

But seriously, congratulations and welcome to the world of open worm cans...

Yeah, I know "pics or it didn't happen", but honestly it's a white Ford van with a ladder rack. Just look around and see a dozen of'em on your way to work ;p.

I do plan to take a lot of pictures during the build, but right now it's just a big empty metal box (oh my God it's noisy in there!).

So, V10, 4:10 limited slip, not rusted out, bare walls/floor cargo van. Windows in the back and side swing doors. Got a lot of 1/4" holes to fill in the floor from racks and the divider. Hand crank windows (simple is good), tilt, cruise, and AC (let's not be too simple). Drove home through the hills, goes like a stabbed rat.

Plans? Man I got'em! Fiberine 20" aero top, once they re-open. They said they are a ways out because of corona. 4x4 conversion after that. Maybe Raptor or Bully liner all over to get rid of the white. Panel the walls/ceiling. Battery/electrical system for the back. Bed, counter, sink, 12v fridge, awning, lights, etc.

But the tier one tasks are some tires on the front, alignment, general maintenance, and SOUND DEADNER! 80 mph on the interstate will make you question your faith. It is very much like being in a Huey with the doors open. 35/40 around town is OK, but at highway speeds it's brutal.

All in all though, I'm tickled pink. Got exactly what I was looking for, and did it under the purchase budget I had planned.

Good luck, similar build for me, but went with just a lift. Jealous of your V10.

Well, I absolutely won't be doing built in water tanks, propane, or bathroom, at least.

Everything else may get out of hand...

the look twice do it once website....

Welcome,
Just wait till you log on just to check that one thing about a fuse, and then 3 hours later you have Solar and interior designs, have mentally spent 6500 bucks, and now also have plans for a completely new and totally different layout and of course you will need to rewire and get new flooring and then you have to start it all over again... there is always a project... no better place than here to find out all you can before you do it..
