09 Ford factory foul up with master cylinder

Picked up our new 09 Sportsmobile a couple weeks ago. One minor problem was the cruise control didn't work. Fresno Ford said the cpu? *the computer" was faulty and would replace it. Since we didn't have time I told them I would take it to a dealer in Oregon to do it. All good.
The Oregon dealer spent 3 days trying to confirm the issue and came back with a new answer - the factory installed the wrong master cylinder for the E350 van which was not comunicating w/ the computer and showing the brakes were on when they wernt keeping the c control from working. Its covered by warranty but kind of a mess.
Anyone else heard of this? I sure hope theyre right. At least they didnt forget to install a brake pedal.
Gotta love Ford.

Never heard of that happenning. But I'm pretty sure their is a difference in brake systems between stability control and non-stability control equipped vans. (Diesel don't get it. Now standard on gas vans with RV prep).

If it's true, got to give kudos the the dealer for finding it the first time. That sounds like something that could cause repeated dealer trips for service without ever getting it right.

One thing that I found out when I actually did blow up the PCM "computer chip", is that Ford is very reluctant to just change it because the failure rate is extremely low. Who was your Oregon dealer?

Re: Cruise control. SMB recently posted the 2010 Ford pricing list. I did not see cruise control as a listed "included" option on the sheet. I hope I'm wrong. Maybe yours was a forerunner of that. - Rusty

It was McKenzie Ford in Hillsboro. And yes they are very reluctant to change or blame the PCM.
They really wanted to put it through a lot of testing and had a lot of back and forth with Ford on it,
which was a whole other story according to the dealer. Sounds like they go through with Ford what WE have to go through with dealers sometimes.
It makes me wonder how it was so easy for the dealer in Fresno to just say it was a faulty PCM without really checking things out too.
Anyway I hope D and R still stand for Drive & Reverse when I get it back

Standard for all vans. It probably costs more for Ford to not include it.
