Re: 1990 Ford SMB e250 - newbie potential purchase

There's a 1991 e250 SMB in the classifieds. It has a 351 v8. How is that engine compared to the 460 v8? It also has an automatic with overdrive. What is that?

Re: 1990 Ford SMB e250 - newbie potential purchase

I have a 1990 Ford with the penthouse, and the dimensions that Broncohauler provided are very close except the two widths on mine are 1 1/2" wider.

I'd like to add that the distance between the black metal uprights are 42" and 45". My wife and I have both slept in the penthouse (I'm 6'2" @ 180lbs and she is 5'6" @ 125) and it was tight but we felt there was enough room. However lately I have slept upstairs while she sleeps downstairs since that affords her better access to the bathroom during the middle of the night. For her, the room in the penthouse is not the issue, but getting up and down has become more trouble. Also, the headroom in the SMB penthouse is only 24" which makes crawling in and out of bed a bit of a challenge.

I have made a platform that rests on the lower Gaucho for steps to make getting in and out of the penthouse easier, and can share a photo, but regardless I think we will be sleeping separately. The previous owners slept separately as well.
