Congratulations - You're going to have fun using it immediately. The challenge comes in deciding & implementing all the upgrades you're envisioning.

That is a great deal, and sounds like you're dealt with a stand-up seller. Doesn't get much better than that.

Regarding the steering box, there are a lot of great reviews of steering boxes from a company called Redhead Steering.

As for your Quigley, most everyone on this forum agrees that a significant improvement in handling can be achieved with the Ride Improvement Package (RIP) developed by Agile Off Road. You can install it yourself, have a local company do it, or plan a roadtrip to San Diego, CA and have the company install it. If you head to San Diego, they're almost right next door to Aluminess which make some gret aluminum front and rear bumpers.

FWIW however, I have not had any personal experience with either upgrade.

That was a crazy good deal to begin with, and then to get another $1500 off? Amazing. Very nice score.

It's great to read a story like yours. You dealt with an honest seller, got a fabulous deal, asked for and got good instant advice from the forum. As many others have written elsewhere, there's a wealth of ideas and information here, with knowledgeable people willingly giving their time to help others. It's a most excellent place. Congratulations!

Thanks everyone! Couldn't have done it without all of your advice. This is more than just a van to us, we are one step closer to starting our many adventures! My spouse has a health condition so our window of travel is limited, I can't wait to transform this thing for long term travel.

Funny thing is, the guy I bought it off travels up north frequently (Alaska/Dempsters Highway). He said to give him a call when we go up, he said it would be so cool for him to see this vehicle up there as he drives by in his semi!

Glad you got it! No worries with the 5.4l. It's a workhorse. If you want more out of it look up 5-star tune. $5000 worth of power for $500. I've 5-star tuned 4-5 vehicles now. Can't go wrong.

......not that we're trying to spend your money......
