Hello, I am new to this forum and enjoying looking at all the great customization and transformations on the vehicles. We have a 2012 E-350 Passenger van that I would love some ideas for customizing the front console. It takes a huge amount of leg space from the passenger. I know the motor is almost right there, but has anyone changed this out into something else? I'm looking for something that would give the passenger a little bit more legroom. Thank you in advance!!!
They used to make different cup holders etc. for the Ford vans, but I haven't ever seen one for the 2008 and newer style. Good opportunity for an entrepreneur with a 3D printer!
Here are some pictures of what the back of the engine cover looks like. I think the storage bin on the front comes off, but the rest is all one piece. It is needed for noise and heat protection. I even added sound deadening to the inside.

Tell me exactly what i'm seeing in your pics since i have not taken mine apart yet. Is pic #1 the molded OEM material that you took off the cowl and then you added a bunch of individual pieces that I see stuck to the cowl in pic #2....then you added the molded piece back onto the cowl over the individual pieces? Is that correct?

I've been thinking about the very same thing. While searching for options, I came across the attached pictures of the console in a 2003 Pleasure Way Traverse. This is the smallest cupholder attachment I've come across and would provide excellent maneuvering room to/from the front seats. I assume it clips right onto the existing console mounts, though not sure.

Great pictures. So, have you figured out a way to make the legroom for the passenger a bit more? Is this the original one that was on the van? It seems to stick way out and it would be great to lessen the overall real estate that it takes up for the passenger.

So, do you think that would fit on an E-350? That does seem to take up a little less space overall. I don't really care about the cupholders, I could make something for them. It just takes up so much space...
I can't say which vans this fits on, or where to even find one of these - probably have to ask Pleasure Way about that.
But as a start, you can remove the existing cup holder/console and get an idea of how things fit. If I recall, you can simply lift it straight up and off of the engine cowl - they just sit on the cowl on 4 or 5 plastic pins.

Unless you have a Straight six in your Van 4.9 L You have no extra room at all. Your Exhaust Manifold on the passenger side is almost touching the cowling now. Sadly no there is no extra room at all.. And Anything you Fab up will need to be very Heat Resistant. As Both sides of the Cowling almost touch your Exhaust Manifolds.
