A/C Failure Cha Ching

Well there we were going to the Vegas to Reno Race to Chase for a Friend and smelled Brake or Clutch odor and the A/C didn't seem to be working . Turned it off and then turned it on again and all seemed well for about 50 miles. A/C quit working and we shut it off. Got to Indian Springs and checked it out. A/C Clutch seemed to be coming apart so we decided not to run the air any more. Drove to the start and several pits during the day. Stopped in Mina NV for some Ice and Supplies. Started up to resume ans POP and the battery light is on. Stepped out to check it and the serpentine belt is on the ground. Its now 8:30 and a call to AAA. Picked up at 9:40 and a 156 mile tow to Carson City. Cha ching. Sat at Capital Ford and no one has the compressor. Rent a car and 8hrs. home. Hopefully back to pick it up this weekend.

Paul

Re: A/C Failure Cha Ching

Hi;

I learned the hard way to carry the serpentine belt for the "without A/C" listing after 2 compressor clutch failures.

At least then you can keep driving it.

Long tow. Good thing you had AAA.

Regards,

Gavin

That sucks...hope you're back on the road soon. I hate being brokedown in adverse weather.
