About to install an Aluminess roof rack

So I’m about to install an Aluminess roof rack on my Econoline SMB with a penthouse top. Just thought I’d ask for any tips or words of wisdom before I start. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully you have an electric lifted top, if not the extra weight will be a bear to lift & I would for sure re-sleeve your bolts with the added weight. Outside of that good luck & enjoy.

I have an electric top. Although not sure I follow “re-sleeving” bolts.

There is a thread on here about doing a re-sleeve of the lift bars so the don’t deform over time (possibly boy wonder) can’t remember. Adding more weight will just help the cause…the SMB lift bars are pretty thin wall & not very strong but the re-sleeve helps a lot.

I think Boywonder documented this around the same time I did but it's been years. Its buried in my Rusty build somewhere. i sleeved and added much bigger shoulder bolts at the same time.

I included it in one of the 3 links I attached - didn’t realize you were such a perfectionist until I went through that section of his build a while back, the work you did was awesome!
Let me know if you’d be interested in taking on another project
