Adding 200lbs to Penthouse

Since I got Eli's awning brackets I decided to look at the Fiamma numbers a little closer:

f35pro 430cm: 14.1 x 7.4 ft -- 37.9 lbs
f45Ti 450cm: 14.7 x 8.2 ft -- 63.9 lbs
f45TiL 450 cm: 14.7 x 8.2 ft -- 81.6 lbs
f45TiL 500 cm: 16.6 x 8.2 ft -- 90.4 lbs
f45TiL 550 cm: 18.2 x 8.2 ft -- 101.4 lbs

There is a pretty big jump between the f35 and 45 in the same size, but if one moves up to the Ti L (large) in the f45 the jump from 14.7 ft to 16.6 ft is less than 9lbs, although to go to "L" in the same size jumps nearly 20 lbs, so from a weight standpoint the f45Ti in 450cm seems to be the best bang by the pound.

However what I really want to do is something like dual f45 Ti L 550s, which would add 100lbs on each side, allowing me to redub my van "the green seagull". But seriously, would adding 200lbs up high on the van cause that much issue?

If the van starts to tip, spread your wings

Seriously though.

We have thought many times about getting a larger awning. But, ours is 7' x 10' and that is all the two of us want to handle when we get caught by strong winds and have to take the awning down. For that reason we nixed getting even a new 12' awning.

Jage,

I don't think 200# would have much effect on a 10,000# van. Why do you want a 2nd awning on the driver's side? Since the side doors are on the passenger side, all of our camping activity is on that side.

LenS,

Since I attached the awning leg brackets to the body of the van, winds have not been an issue. Obviously, in high winds the awning must be stowed, but it is a one many job. See earlier posts:

Maybe like the couch when you're in the doghouse?

The portable outbuilding doesn't have a solid top.
