Aluminess 2008 Front Trojan Bumper

We finally ordered our SMB! We went for the 08 EB. I will give you guys more details and pics, once I have more time, on the trip reports. Anyway, here is an image of the new 08 Trojan. Thanks everyone, especially Canyonclan, for all of your advice!

Congratulations. The new version of the bumper appears to be a bit shallower in depth than the previous model. I do think the bumper definitely helps the front end look better.

BTW, it's very hard to tell, but is that a Sportsmobile.com synthetic rope fairlead on the front bumper?

Also, in looking through your Album, "Jimmy's SMB" is sure an interesting color. Do you know Jimmy, and is that a new factory color, or is it custom?

Herb,

According to SMB staff, that is Jimmy Buffet's SMB. I guess "Jimmy" knows a big wig in Ford and was able to get a custom color in a short amount of time. It sort of looked like a mint green color to me. But what ever the color was, it looked unique!

Well in that case it's obviously Parrothead green.

I've been to a couple of Jimmy Buffet concerts, and if nothing else, they're the best parking lot parties I've ever been to. Interesting that he want's an SMB. He also flys himself to many of his own concerts in his own seaplane. Must be quite an adventurer.

Now to get him signed up here....

Looks great! My only concern would be the deer size open area of the grill between the bars. If they were narrowed up a bit more they might add a bit more protection. I've always thought it would be a bummer to have a trip ruined by my vehicle being disable due to hitting a deer. The AC condenser, radiator etc are all very vulnerable in that area.

I was involved in building a Vanagon syncro camper for Jimmy a few years ago. Here it is
We did almost all the mechanical work on this one. The color is his "signature". It was a real fun project. Of coarse we were given VIP concert tickets as well which included a preconcert party with the band. I gave those to my Mom because she's a huge fan. I never did meet Jimmy. I turned down an offer later to fly out to florida and do some work on the van and go fishing with Jimmy. The timing was bad. The van is now at his house in Long Island. I wonder which house the SMB is going to?
