Anyone have experience with Bus Depot's Ezy-Awning on Ford?

http://busdepot.com/details/awning.jsp

Has anyone mounted a Ezy-Awning on their Ford van? I sure do like this setup for Arizona's camping season.

I have one and really like it. Easy to set up (once you have done it a few times) attaches easily to the van and has held up well in light wind and rain for us.

Re: Anyone have experience with Bus Depot's Ezy-Awning on Fo

I have one left over from my Westfalia days. I have used it a couple times on my Sportsmobile. I find it too inconvenient to use if it is just for one night. I also don't feel that the clamps are secure enough when clamped to the rain gutter. I bought the set of suction cup clamps, but they didn't work on the curve of the roof area. I have been looking into other awnings like the ShadyBoy, Camping Labs and Eezy Awn, but I think I will probably end up going with the Fiamma in the end.

How is yours connected? with suction cups? Is it std or 11' long? Can you describe where/how it gets stowed?

thx!

Re: Anyone have experience with Bus Depot's Ezy-Awning on Fo

I had one when there was a Bus in our life. Worked well. The material is a little thin. Easy to get holes into it. I had their full blown deal with the suction cups for the roof and the bars that go under the tires.

I don't think I'd buy one again. IMO, a 10 x 10 Easy Up or equal is just as good if not better and can be adapted to attach to the van if desired. Faster to put up.

There is an ongoing thread on http://www.thesamba.com in the Bus forum about the $30
Wally World 9 x 9 shade canopy. Page 2 has some nice pic's

I attach the awning with the provided clamps to the rain gutter. It stows in an old camping chair bag and sits in the back of our van. For some, the set up might not be worth it for just a night, but for multiple days it's great. We got ours for a great price and has been a good alternative to the more expansive Fiamma.

Re: Anyone have experience with Bus Depot's Ezy-Awning on Fo

I have one and wouldn't recommend it. I think there are better options. My two huge complaints are that the poles and clamps have sharp edges and will scratch up your paint if you aren't SUPER careful. This ordinarily wouldn't be a problem but my awning fell off of my van once and left a huge gouge in the side about halfway down. I don't like the clamps at all, especially if you have A-1 raingutter towers, they get in the way of each other and you can't get a good seal. It keeps the sun off but not rain, it will just run down the sides of the van and drip all over the area you are trying to keep dry. If you have a PH top and nothing on your raingutters, you might have better luck.
My second complaint is that the material is pretty thin and the first time I set mine up, in my driveway, moving it around attaching poles rubbed holes in the awning material. I was careful but I will NEVER set this thing up laid out on rock or pavement again, find some grass or sand because you have to step/walk on the inside of it to velcro and tie the X tent poles, and that is enough to rub through the material. One time, you ask? YES, ONE TIME!

In regards to the Wally World canopy mentioned in the above thread. That was from 2009 and I can't find it currently listed on their online site. This seems to be it's replacement:

Ozark Trail 9' x 9' Express Canopy $49.97

Info from one of the reviews:
Quote:
The actual canopy is only about 7 x 7, the leg spread is 9 x 9 but not the shade.

This came up. But maybe they no longer sell them.

Then there's this

One only has to get creative.

Another hit using, Dining Canopy, as the search topic.
