Autobolt SS

I’ve been trying now for a few weeks to contact the Autobolt SS people via phone and emails. I’ve left multiple messages and sent numerous emails to everyone listed on their website. No answers at all. I have a few question but am now leary of purchasing them as I don’t even know if they are still in business. Can anyone shed light on that company and product?

This is what I have from 2018 (see below).
Received the bolts and had them installed.
Installation was way more than the company estimated, but there was no experienced installer in our area.
The bolts work well though, we are happy with the reduced risk of break-in.

Sent emails to both those. I feel like they are either out of stock, or out of business.

I have called that number and 8621 multiple times. It is too bad, seems like a good product. Anyone have experience with an alternative?

That is disappointing news about The Auto Bolt products---I emailed Greg a few weeks ago after reading they had introduced a newer version than ones I'd bought back in 2008. I did quickly receive a reply so not sure what's happened since.

The Auto Bolt is a unique design and to my knowledge there's no one else offering anything similar. I did install deadbolt locks but of a very different design, try this site: https://www.a1electric.com/catalog/cat_dead.htm. They accomplish the same protection and if they're more readily available might be one of a few choices.

Those locks are probably a bit more challenging to install for most people but its not an insurmountable process. I've done it three times now and each time gets relatively "easier" I guess. The only really important thing is aligning the lock bolt with the receiver point in the opposing door.

Should you go that route I could better detail the installation perhaps.

HTH

I did get an auto reply one time to an email, other than that nothing. I have looked at the a1electric, but was hoping something would come of the autobolt as it does look like a finished product. Thanks JWA, might take you up on those instructions.

I ordered a set of deadbolts for my Sprinter from Sussex Installations in the UK. I got their T Series deadlocks made by Locks4Vans. I haven't had any luck in locating a place that is willing install them and I had contacted Locks4Vans to see if they had any known installers of their product in the US, but they told me they were unaware of any.

The good news is they do provide templates and great instructions on how to install their product and it honestly looks like something that any careful person should be able to do on their own. I've just been waiting for the weather to get better before I make the attempt; that and I am admittedly a little gun-shy about having to cut into the sheet metal of my nearly new van.

I really want deadlocks for my van to improve its hardness when I park it at a trailhead and leave it unattended while I'm off on a hike. With the deadbolts any thieves would have to enter and exit via a broken window because they won't be getting the deadlocked doors open without a key.

I believe I contacted them as well but they were very hesitant to the point of outright selling to me as a DIY installer---apparently I didn't impress them as being someone capable of following their instructions.

I was very impressed with the T-Series deadbolts which is why I contacted them originally. As I've already done this using those linked in one of my previous replies here I've grown competent enough to do this without too many issues. The ones used are as solid and theft deterring as many others I've investigated.

Deadbolts do slow down thievery in that the larger side/rear doors are secured against intrusion from outside even if the lock cylinders are disabled or "punched". Typically though thieves look for easily carried and sold items so the larger stuff tends to be left behind.

If your van allows passage from the vulnerable front doors & glass to the rear smaller items thieves look for won't be too safe unless they too are locked in something secure like a secured safe or vault, perhaps carefully located under the van?

I do hope you work this out Belieze----if you'd photograph your installation and perhaps a write-up as well I know others here would highly appreciate it.

TIA
