Auxiliary fuel port.

I found the sticker for our 2004 van today, and saw one of the factory Ford options was an auxiliary fuel port. Does anyone here know what that is? It was a $25 option.

They are for onboard generators and fuel fired heaters

Cool! I was hoping for that. I’m considering installing an Espar gasoline heater. Is the electrical connector always hot?

The fuel pump wiring comes as part of the Espar wiring harness. Just installed a couple of these gas heaters. They work well, easy to install.

That's good to know. We currently have the propane heat that was installed by SMB. The espar would become the main cabin heat source, to allow us to conserve propane for the cook top and hot water. That's just me though. Coming from the IT world, I'm big on redundancy for critical systems. At some of the places we are planning to go, heat is a pretty big deal.

MG,

What model of gas heater did you install? Where did you source it from? I can only seem to find the diesel models.

Thx
