Basic RV Questions

How do you store your fresh water hose to keep it from getting funky?

Also after filling my water I got sprayed because there was pressure in the line between the tank fill valve and the van side and the van side and the faucet... what should I do different?

City water usually contains chlorene already. If you keep foreign matter out of the tank it should stay good. We have had no problems with our water tanks filling from city water, or using filters when getting from other sources. We have never had to clean it over the last 2 years, even after sitting for 3 mo of no use while we were in France.

A periodic treatment with a bit of chlorene if it has sat for a long time might be a good idea.

After filling the tank we remove pressure from the line by opening the faucet in the van (pump off) to pull the pressure from the hose.

I changed my plumbing a bit to deal with freezing conditions outside. Since my fill line is no longer part of my distribution line, after filling I can completely drain the fill line so there's no water in it. I know that doesn't directly answer your question, but it's another added benefit of replumbing your system to separate the fill from the distro. The only negative is you can't hook up to a water hook up and use the water directly if parked for a long time.

Hmmm, wait a minute... I just reread your email... are you referring to the removable hose instead, not the main internal fill hose/line? Let us know...

First, if you turn off the supply water, then close the SMB filler valve there should be no pressure in the hose. Actually, I run the water until it comes out the tank overflow; then I turn off the faucet; then I disconnect the hose: take the hose, and slowly coil it up - ensuring that I am always pulling it up so it will drain; then I connect the two ends of the hose to keep stuff out of the empty hose.

Usually the next time my wife goes to use the water in the camper, nothing comes out of the faucet because I forgot to close the SMB filler valve.
