Battery Jump Starter

I am considering getting a battery jump starter for the van. Amazon has a sale going on Noco that ends today. I am looking at the model linked below that is good for up to 7 liter gas engines. I am wondering if anyone here has experience with Noco battery jump starters or other brands that you would recommend instead. Here is a link the the one I am looking at. https://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GB50-Ult...dp/B07MVY7K43/

I have an 2001 E350 with the 6.8 V10.

I have a NOCO, and been very pleased with it. Used several times to help others out, and once on my van (6.0 Diesel) - worked effortlessly.
I went with a larger one - mostly because if I had to make several attempts to crank the engine over the NOCO wouldn't be spent after the first couple tries.

I bought a Fanttik Apex 2000 to have in my wife's car and I've been impressed with it. Build quality is good and connections are solid.

After going through a number of AntiGravity jump starters (each eventually swelled after being stored in my vehicles), I purchased a NOCO GB155 for my diesel Excursion (haven't used yet - 1 year old), and a NOCO GB40 for my Bronco (haven't used yet - 3 years old). No swelling, at least so far.

I also have a NOCO Battery Charger G15000 that I use all the time, and I'm very impressed with the quality.

Good point Twoxentrix. I didn't think of multiple attempts to get it started. Maybe I'll opt for the bigger one too. Also good to hear that the Noco brand has not swelled. I wondered about that being lithium-based batteries.

FWIW, I should add that I also order cases for each of my NOCO jump start packs. I don't think that any of them come with cases, and I wanted hard cases for them to keep them from getting banged around.

My AntiGravity packs did come with soft vinyl cases.

I wonder if different brands use different battery chemistry?

They probably all use similar 4S LiPo batteries with the larger models using a higher milliamp hour rating somewhere between 3000-6000MAH. I use these batteries weekly in one of my hobbies and understand some of the issues they have. Heat is a huge factor when stored. That is somewhat problematic when it needs to be stored in the vehicle during summer. Unlike an AGM, LiPo's should be stored at a 30-40% charge state and maybe why they only last for 5 or so years and/or have the cells puff up over time. Obviously the jump starters need to always be fully charged.

I was actually thinking to make a jump starter myself being I have several LiPo chargers. All I'd need is a 4-5000mah 4s battery, case and a jumper cable. But I do have a XP 10 anti gravity battery I keep at home that run my telescope drives. It's nice and clean plus it has USB outputs as well as the 12v output port. I do like it has a plethora power connectors to power/charge other devices.

My guess is they are all about the same but have never tested or compared any of them to my anti gravity models.
