Best Alarm with GPS Tracking?

About to head to Mexico and Central America and wondering what the best theft deterrent and vehicle tracking system is? Seached the forums but not much posting on this topic since 2012.

Also, any suggestions on a removable GPS nav unit or another other security/theft deterrent measures greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Best Alarm with GPS Tracking?

I've been pleased with the SPOT Trace device, which runs off the Globalstar satellite network and will work in areas without cellphone service. It's a standalone device so I don't think there's a way to integrate it into an alarm system or engine immobilizer. But it's a pretty reliable way to track your van after-the-fact if something does happen. You can customize the service from the SPOT website, and specify movement alerts or daily updates sent to you or even family members.

Mine has lasted for months on a single set of batteries, and it is fairly easy to conceal. The signal won't reach through metal, so you have to find a place near a window or under the fiberglass penthouse if you have one. Combine it with a decent alarm system and I think you would have a powerful combination.
