Best travel insurance/towing coverage?
Dave, no, the RV specific coverage is more money, and covers a truck and trailer on the towing, etc. I opted for the regular plus coverage. My van still looks a lot more like a van than an RV so I figure I'm ok.
I am curious if my wife can just use my card though, or should I pay more to make her an associate member? My logic for just putting myself on the application is that if she gets stranded, her first call is to me always anyway, and I could call in for her and provide better info for them. Pretty rare shed be far from home without me driving anyway.

Re: Best travel insurance/towing coverage?
That’s how my van was also, everything was fine for many years with the southern California office (1985 on). I tried to renew in the Pacific Northwest and like I said, they would not renew it and wanted me to start over with RV.

Re: Best travel insurance/towing coverage?
Looks like I'll have to upgrade. Sure don't want to get caught somewhere without it plus that will cover my little SMB rockcrawler trailer...good info to know.

RV coverage is not the same as Premium. You can add RV coverage to Plus or Premier coverage.
AAA considers under 10,000 pound tow-able with light-duty equipment, since this is what most rollback decks are rated for on a cLass 6 chassis. Over 10,000 pounds usually requires a true MDT tow truck. Some contractors are a little more capable than others. We keep a MDT wrecker in service 24/7 and it can tow up to about a 34' class a motorhome, or even a full size truck towing most trailers. Most providers don't run MDTs around the clock, and many don't even have one, so in some areas larger vehicles may face longer waits.

Unless you are always available to meet up with her, you should add her. It's only $25 (at least in OR). The member must be with the vehicle (with exceptions on a case-by-case basis).
Besides, the AAA discounts out there more than pay for membership.

Thanks CarringB, I haven't looked at all of that closely yet, but I think in my area it's something like $42 to add her. I probably will. Good info to consider on the member having to be present with the vehicle.
