Book values on SMB

How and where does one get accurate wholesale and retail values, and which lender would you recommend would be best to deal with on purchasing such an RV.

thanks
JR

Book values on SMB

Nada has smb listed as a manuf. But there's no 4x4 option to add before it spits out your value.

Not sure on lenders. I tried Essex but the sales rep Danielle there will tell you one thing and their underwriters will tell you another.

With SMBs there's no such thing as wholesale. You either order it to your custom specs from the factory or buy used from a private party. It's hard to set an index of value because the market is so small and each van is unique. Check the SMB used van page for a good selection of what's available. http://www.sportsmobile.com/z-PO_calif.html

Which lender? Going into Suzy Orman mode here... "It's a TOY! If you can't pay cash, you can't afford it."
Or in my case, can't afford it even when you do pay cash.

Re: Book values on SMB

I recently sold a custom horse (really llama) trailer with custom interior living quarters. I contacted both the manufacturer of the trailer (Sundowner) and the interior (Showtime conversions) and neither would give me even a ballpark estimate on the value of the trailer. So then I took it to a nearby horse trailer dealer and paid them $150 for an appraisal. This worked great and I found a buyer who paid the appraised price. In your case you need to take the SMB to a dealer who sells used class-B RVs.

Viejo,

Even if one could pay cash why would you? With rates at an all time low, why would I pay cash for a depreciating asset when one could write off the % or depreciation since ill be guiding out of it..makes more sense.

Thanks
JR

Re: Book values on SMB

You're right. I was out of line to even mention that.
In the first place your finances are none of my business
and in the second place, I did just what you described with a 0% car loan a few years ago.

My thoughts were toward the poor schmuck with a mortgage, kids, car loan, credit card debt and no savings who wants what he wants and he wants it right now. I was wrong to project that stereotype onto you.
