broken bolt in lift arm

One of the bolts broke in our lift arm. Im wondering if anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it? I was able to get the lid closed but the arms holes are missing each other by about 12 inches due to the force in the arms.

Sad to say but many people here have had to repair the same thing. Search "broken bolts" and similar wording and you will find many discussions and how to's on the subject: Here is a good video that was posted.

Is your top:

1. manual or powered?
2. did the bolt fall out or was it broken?
3. do you have a load (stuff) on the roof?

pictures are always nice to see....specially of failed parts.

Thanks! The video was great in helping us fix the bolt. Although rather sketchy with the whole jacking up the roof part, it worked great and allowed us to see how the whole rig actually works.

How about some close up pics of the failed bolt??? Side view and end showing the marks that indicate the bold grade??

Could be a helpful reference for othrs.
