Bug Screen Velcro Replacement

The time has arrived to remove the velcro side attached to the painted door jambs. The factory installed has not performed well I believe because the paint was not solvent cleaned before the sticky backed velcro was placed. anyone have a source for the new velcro at a reasonable price? For those considering the option of the bugscreen, it works well, just quickly and poorly installed.

Bug Screen Velcro Replacement

Have purchased Velcro at fabric stores in the past. You can get it in several widths and colors.

Re: Bug Screen Velcro Replacement

I have used the 'heavy duty' velcro but still have had adhesion problems with the factory painted metal. Any wood I have varnished it sticks like its welded on. Just will not stay stuck to the factory paint in the door jams. Have tried cleaning w alcohol and mineral spirits.

Re: Bug Screen Velcro Replacement

Replace the velcro with neodymium magnets? Don't know how you would affix them to the screen but they should hold it up. These 1/4" cubes have 8.9lbs of pull force.
