Many things are mistakenly referred to as Death Wobble. It's not an experience you'll forget, or ever want to repeat... somehow I doubt you actually have DW... which is good.
Well, I haven't experienced it yet, but she described it as a violent shuddering of the front end, downhill on the brakes, that could would only stop when speed was scrubbed off. She said she could barely hold onto the wheel. A 'tank slapper' in motorcycling parlance ... We'll see, hopefully nothing too serious, and whatever it is curable by the timely application of cash
If you are heading to Seattle then you could swing by Quadvan in Portland. John can figure out what is going on probably while you wait. He is as knowledgeable as anyone on these steering issues. Might be worth a short stop in P-town. Not far from Portland brewing just in case she gets thirsty while he works on it.
So what did you determine to be the problem? I had a similar shudder in the front end while breaking on a downhill section. Only happened once but was concerning.
To be honest, i haven't resolved it as yet, new wheels and tyres will be going on next week, which is the first step in the process of elimination.
Spent a lot of time this last couple of weeks removing stickers with a credit card, an array of noxious chemicals and the amazing pin striping removal wheel. My van has so far gone from this ....
It's a huge eraser that fits on the end of a drill, and does an amazing job. Just be sure not to let it get too hot, otherwise it gets traction and takes off like a drag car.
