Can anyone ID this Yakima roof rack?

Hi all,

I recently got these from my father-in-law and I'm trying to figure out what tracks I need to mount them on. Any ideas? Thanks.

Well I can see how the Yakima site isn't much help. Perhaps send them those pics.

Looks like they are the "Locking Railrider 3" tower, and one of the many "Landing Pad" bottom mount variants. If you pull that cover just under the bar away from the tower, you can actually slide the bottom section off and you will see the tops of the bolts that hold the Landing Pad to the tracks when mounted.

Basically, the way these work is that you slide the bottom portion(Landing Pad) into one of the track systems,(usually Thule or Yakima tracks are interchangeable) then get the Landing Pad positioned where you want it and then tighten it down to the track. Next you slide the tower onto the Landing pad and flip the latch up and that locks the tower to the Landing Pad.

Here is a video of the process. He is using slightly different hardware, but the idea is the same.

Let me know if you need more clarification.

Thanks guys. And thanks ben, that explanation and video are really helpful. One hangup I'm having is the oval-shaped bracket/nut pieces. Seem like a weird shape to slide inside the track (vs square, which I'm seeing a lot, including that video), worried if I get the wrong type of track they might pop out.
Any idea if these tracks will work with my rack? Cheaper option, 59$ for 56" vs ~160$ for the Yakima tracks:

The oval shape is not a big deal. Just measure the narrow width and get a track that fits it. As you tighten the bracket down the long length will prevent it from turning in the track.
