I found a van on the East Coast but I live in California. I'd love to but can't take the time off work to drive it cross country. Does anyone have experience with a shipper they can recommend?
I have used Rhino Enterprises Trucking (based in TX) twice - for my first SMB from TX to OH and then again for my second SMB from CA to OH. I dealt with Ryan both times and found him to be helpful and communicative. They were able to ship quickly as well.
Spoke to this company when I was contemplating shipping my rig west to save vacation days (never went through with that plan). Very professional on the phone but I can't vouch for how they actually perform. That said, SMB North has utilized them in the past. There was another forum post about them as well but couldn't find it.

I would be willing to drive it back for you. I did this for someone else two years ago. You pay for the flight and gas and give me a week.

Nice offer DIG! I have camped with DIG and wouldn't hesitate to have him drive my van. Actually I wish I would have known you would do that and I would have taken you up on the offer when I bought my van.
SMB West recommended Shelly from First Choice Auto Transport. They are likely just a broker and will sub out the job. I used them and my van arrived as promised on time from the people that took the job. I can dig up there direct info if needed although they did comment the van was "too heavy". Still they were straight up guys and I would use them again.

This was the other van I transported, it was on blocks for two years. The seller put 4 new tires on it and changed the oil the day before I picked it up.
Took it from Cape Hatteras to the Santa Monica pier, including a drive down the full length of the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway. No trouble.
NEVER been on the HOOK!

I remember that van. It was just around the corner from me.
right now you would not be able to get off the island...we have 2 feet of water on the roads here. 18" of rain in the last 2 weeks.
