Can't fill water tank

Just got back from nice dinner with family in San Diego area. Hope you all had a great one.

There is another valve at the bottom, which is used to drain the tank, and goes down through floor. The reason my workaround did not go straight from city water to the inside filler connection is that the connection is a male thread - just like the end of the hose coming from city water. Having no adapter, we just poured water into the short hose, using faucet to control the stream. Pretty funky, but it works for now. I hope I'm making sense!

A couple questions...

1) Does the steel braided line coming out of the water pump connect to the line where the valve is that you're pointing to?

2) The valve you're pointing to has a line going straight down but I can't tell where it goes. Is it just capped at the end of the line? (right above the other valve)

I think that you are doing everything correctly and using the right valve, it is just that ours are grey. Our vans don't have the direct connection from the City Water Connection to the sink but that shouldn't be a factor.

Try this...turn the pump motor on, then open the chrome valve. In our van, that results in the pump motor immediately turning on. If your pump doesn't come on, I think that it might suggest a problem somewhere. You would think that SMB would test this during filling of the water tank but maybe they fill it from the connection that you used to fill it from the sink itself.

Then give SMB a call and ask to talk to Peter (tell them it is important because Peter can take a while to call you back). If the pump didn't come on, tell them that. Anyone who goes over new vehicles with buyers should be able to help you though.

I wonder if that is a drain valve. Hard to say. I'd hook up to city water and open both valves and see if water comes in. There is a drain valve but both chrome valves lead to the top don't they???

Problem solved! Both the fill valve at the tank (pointed to in the picture) AND the valve under the sink, which feeds city water to the faucet, need to be open. This was implied in a message from joey2cool, and the troubleshooting tips from all of you were very helpful. Thanks a bunch!

According to Peter at SMB West, the city water valve under my sink is normally located in back near the hose connection (for a Sprinter RB 150 build). Ours is probably different because we got the D5 diesel furnace and hot water system.

Glad you found the answer. I don't remember Jonathan talking about two valves. Did Peter say you need to close both to run off of your water tank and pump? I know have to check mine out in the morning.

Peter did not address that specifically, but I know the fill valve at the tank must be closed: else when the pump is turned on it will just cycle water through the tank.
