Re: Change in Administration

I'm also saying hello and finding my way around the board; this looks like an awesome community and jage deserves major props for putting it together.

I help Andy out with his forums and in my spare time am a musician. Over the years I've had a fair number of van conversions for touring and so this seems like old home week to me. LOVE the galleries here although most rigs seem to have a notable lack of fritos bags, burger wrappers and empty coffee cups - very tidy.

If I can help out just let me know...

Re: Change in Administration

All is well in the universe once again, the forum has been restored, I was worried there for a moment!
Welcome new admins! Props for getting things up and running fairly quickly

Re: Change in Administration

Likewise. Thanks Jage. It's the best forum around, made that way by you and the members.

Will we lose our galleries when the forum is changed to Vbulletin? I'm expecting so. Please let us know that and if there's a way to save our stuff that might not be saved elsewhere.

FYI, I think the user galleries and random images at top left are a big plus of this forum. I hope they can stay.

and by all accounts of the posts in this thread, you are loved and appreciated.

So, it looks like you are ready for a deserved two weeks in Ibiza dancing at Pacha with some days swimming in the blue water off that white sand spit on Formentera...

No, we will make sure and bring over all the photos. I call them Van porn and find myself looking at them at every visit.

I agree, the random photos are a nice touch and we will find a way to keep them or something similar on the page to keep things looking fresh.

Re: Change in Administration

Was great while it lasted and every-time I came around I learned something (and hopefully taught something occasionally).

Jage, thanks for the boundless effort it took to make it work.

Re: Change in Administration

Thanks for everything Jage! I have really enjoyed the forum and all it's members. I've learned a lot and have met many members along the way. Only possible through the forum.

Welcome Andy. Looking forward to the future.

Mike

Re: Change in Administration

Jage,

Thanks to you and this forum I was able to live a dream I never thought possible. Saw my first SMB at a car show and found your forum not to long after. And thanks to Alta's " to good to be true post" I became the proud owner of SMB. Hard to believe that was 7 years ago and the memories it has brought my family is priceless.

Thanks again

Re: Change in Administration

Hey all, this is Jeff; Andy mentioned me earlier. Sorry for the problems earlier today. I actually made several test moves of the site and was all ready to go. I figured it would be a good idea to initialize one last backup to make sure we had a copy of everything before we worked on a final move. I didn't realize the server space was so limited and I jammed up the server. A first for everything I suppose.

We have successfully moved the site to a new server, and hopefully you should notice it to be a bit faster. There are probably a few nicks and dents here and there, just let us know if you find anything amiss.

- Jeff

Re: Change in Administration

It is a big change moving from an enthusiast owned and community supported site, to a site that is run by a business that is trying to make money (with ads etc).

Personally being enthusiast owned and community supported is one thing that attracted me to the site in the first place.

All the other forums that I've been on that have moved to business owned, I've wound up leaving, not as a deliberate decision, but just the death of 1000 cuts. They've mis-directed the content and features, and have covered the sites in ads. I'm not saying that Andy will but overall I am just sad.

Thanks again Jeremiah for all you have done in the past, and I certainly understand your reasons for wanting to have a life.
