Cleaning Under Roof Rack?

Question for those that have custom roof racks: Is it tough to clean underneath them?

Considering a roof rack. Having trouble envisioning how to take care of the roof underneath.

Re: Cleaning Under Roof Rack?

It takes a little more time, but I have no trouble cleaning underneath with a long-reach car wash brush. Because of the extra time, I usually only do the roof about every 3rd wash.

Same here.

But with the raptor top, usually I just spray it off. Waxing would be a major PITA and why I had the raptor sprayed on.

Re: Cleaning Under Roof Rack?

I believe in the miraculous sealant powers of natural dirt and don't do the roof.

Now that's just plain funny.

That being said, thanks for the thoughts.

I'm thinking Raptor liner (or similar product) will need to budgeted as part of the upgrade. I would hate to spend the cash on the custom roof rack, just to discover two years later that it is destroying the top due to neglect...

Re: Cleaning Under Roof Rack?

You might be shocked at the number of Contractor's vans I see with moss on the roof with about a 3" perimeter that, along with the rest of the van, seems to get washed regularly.

Re: Cleaning Under Roof Rack?

Seeking more information on Raptor (or similar) roof coating.
Tried Googling "Raptor roof" or "Raptor roof protection" and didn't find it.

Thanks!

Searching this forum for the word "Raptor" is a good start.

Re: Cleaning Under Roof Rack?

Thanks Herb! Great thread.
It has me thinking about the different roof coating options. I'll post a new thread so as not to hijack.
