coleman polar cub 9200

Why does sportmobile insist on using an air conditioner that can only be used with the honda 2000 and an inverter. they used to offer the coleman polar cub 9200 that would work with just the
honda and no inverter.

Are you talking about the Danhard? Only a few years ago all they offered was Starcool and they didn't work with a generator at all AFIK.

And when you say "insist" do you mean they refuse to install the Polar Cub 9200?

You probably answered your own question if it's a roof mount. Most 4x4's are pop top campers along with a few Sprinter models. Even on the fixed top models, some owners try to keep height down. But SMB does offer roof mount air....I just don't know what they pull. I would think that SMB would mount the model you're talking about if requested. Have you ever asked them?

And the Danhard will run on battery and inverter alone, WITHOUT the Honda 2000, for an hour or two.

Re: coleman polar cub 9200

In addition to the new Danhard they carry "Sportsmobile uses the low-profile, only 7.5" high, Carrier A/C with 13,500 BTU. It can be located front, center or rear of van. The A/C shroud is white. It can be painted to match van color (O). Cost $1,278."

I think the intent is to have a model that is capable of running for some time with just only the inverter and battery, and not a generator at all. This also allows you to run the AC while you are driving using the inverter.
