Cover your VIN number
I met a guy who lives in my area who had his Sportsmobile stolen while down in the San Diego area for work. The cops said the vehicle had been cased for a few days, just long enough for the crooks to get his VIN number and get a key made from some crooked source. They showed up while he was working and just drove off with it. I think he said they had some kind of video survalance of the guys but I dont think they caught them. His advice to me was to cover your VIN number with a card or something.

You schedule it throught the company, they come to you and install it. All included in the price. The price includes two "keys" but you can buy more if you want. I think it took the guys two hours to install it, not bad for a van, and a lifted van at that. The lift definitely doesn't make things easier to work on, unless it's under the van that is. Come on by and check it out if you want.

You could rekey your locks, even do it yourself then they wouldn't match the VIN.
I guess if you put an override switch in the alarm that woudn't help cause they have the key...
Anyone know if it's legal to obscure the VIN? I mean technically it's visible for a reason...

I wuldn't think it would be legal to obscure it, though I think you should be able to (innocent til proven guilty).

In the old days you had the metal knock out from your key with a number on it to make a new key from. At some point they switched to VIn numbers. I have had a new kew made from the VIN on a Nissan and a Honda. What I don't know is if it is tied directly to the VIN, or if the VIN is tied to a set of data that then can be tied to a key master..

Either way, VIN == Key regardless of the steps, if it's possible for any legitimate operation to do it it's possible for crooks.
