CR Laurence awning window repair

My apologies if this has been covered, but I can't find it searching, probably because no two people spell CR Laurence correctly and I probably haven't either.

I'm trying to help a friend (Ledger here) replace a stripped gear box in an awning (crank out) window. I've attached a picture of the window here which is the common one (frameless top-half fixed, bottom-half crank out) that is on a lot of SMBs. Do I have to remove the window to replace the gear box? Cyclevan, who the manufacturer sent her to for parts, can't really help me. There is not a model number on the window that I can find, and no Youtube vids either. CR Laurence is notoriously unhelpful and their website sucks. If I had a parts breakdown (diagram) of the window I'm sure I could easily figure it out.

To me, it looks like the whole window must be pulled and the long rod through the center removed to remove gear box. Anyone have any experience with this?

What is the best sealant to use around the window when it goes back if I remove it?

It's just like the one in this picture, which I hope Firedude67 doesn't mind me using here, it's the first one I came across.

Thanks

I never got that far.. one of mine has the stripped gears, and the glass is falling out. The other just has the glass falling out. I glued them both shut permanently, one of these days I'm going to have SMB replace them, because as best I can tell you have to take have the van apart to get to them, and they only charge about $200 for their labor.

Im calling my CRL rep to find that out for you right now.

I can tell you that window is a dry fit seal. Theres a big squishy neoprene gasket that presses against the van body, forming the seal.

Just bumping this back to the top. I'm hoping someone had done the exact repair I need to and speaks up. Pretty soon I need to get this done, at least as soon as Ledger brings it back over. I'm trying to be prepared.

Thanks!

I finally chased the info down. CRL is a little slow moving (third call is a charm!)

No, you do not have to remove the window from the van. the crank assembly can be serviced while the unit is installed in the van wall.

The part number for the gearbox is: GBOX46R.

Not sure if you can order it, but I can get it for you if need be.

I can also supply the awning portion of the window on its own if need be.

If anyone else needs CRL windows or parts, give me a shout.

CR Laurence awning window repair

EXPEDITIONNW - Yes, I can use your help. I need two things:

1. Info/instruction/diagram on how to access/remove/replace the GBOX46R in the C R Laurence FW904RS van/RV window; and (assuming that I am able to remove the gearbox)

2. The GBOX46R gearbox, itself.

Can you help with both of these?

expeditionnw or anyone else...
I just had a lower element / crank out portion of window glass break.
Awaiting word from SMB West if they can supply the glass, but as we all prob know they are pretty busy.

Why not just have a piece cut from a glass company?

That is on the table but I thought if something avail off the shelf it might be quicker, better chance of right fit, right tint and general lack of unforeseen complications.
