My apologies if this has been covered, but I can't find it searching, probably because no two people spell CR Laurence correctly and I probably haven't either.
I'm trying to help a friend (Ledger here) replace a stripped gear box in an awning (crank out) window. I've attached a picture of the window here which is the common one (frameless top-half fixed, bottom-half crank out) that is on a lot of SMBs. Do I have to remove the window to replace the gear box? Cyclevan, who the manufacturer sent her to for parts, can't really help me. There is not a model number on the window that I can find, and no Youtube vids either. CR Laurence is notoriously unhelpful and their website sucks. If I had a parts breakdown (diagram) of the window I'm sure I could easily figure it out.
To me, it looks like the whole window must be pulled and the long rod through the center removed to remove gear box. Anyone have any experience with this?
What is the best sealant to use around the window when it goes back if I remove it?
It's just like the one in this picture, which I hope Firedude67 doesn't mind me using here, it's the first one I came across.
