defensive gear
good coverage, you'r on top of most of it...most states including Calif regard a RV parked in a campsite as your home and while the "castle doctrine" is not alive and well here (Ca) a tactical plan on your part and
how you apply it is important. We carry a short LE type shotgun and a semi-auto pistol and up until a few months ago were not sure about the different state laws regarding travelling w/ firearms (outside Ca) I have a
Canadian firearms permit which allows us to take long guns across the border and return. Recently a freind told me about the Utah CCW permit
which is honoured in 28 states( mostly western) except Ca, Or, Co which
helps with the possession legality, as well as common sense. There is also
an attorney (and you know what Shakespeare said about lawyers) who has written a book, (the bible) of transporting and possessing firearms across the US; a good reference book

How does one go about getting a Canadian firearms permit?

defensive gear
joey/nick;
you need to contact the Canadian Firearms Center and request the kit for
obtaining one...call 1.800.731.4000 and the officer will explain the proceedure to you and give you a place/proctor for taking the test...
common sense and gun experience will be fine to pass it...expect it to cost about $150 US.

At many (at least) Western states gun shows, they offer CCW training for a Utah CCW. Unfortunately, it still wouldn't do me any good here in CA.

Indiana implemented a permanent (lifetime) CC permit just before I moved. It was $120 I think. Before that we had to renew every 4 years (which is still an option).

This short video demonstrates a very compact little protection device that might give you a slight edge in most situations you may encounter. In some countries, it may not be detectable as a prohibited weapon.
