Easier Access to Upper Bunk in Sportsmobile Pop Top

Hi. Hoping there some suggestions here that can address our issue with easier access to upper bunk on our 2008 Ford EB50. We are original owners and have enjoyed many days and nights in the Sporstmobile.

Our current concern is access to/from the upper bunk. Specifically, (and sadly), stiff knees, less upper body strength and perhaps a little less balance are making access to/from the upper bunk more challenging, especially for nature calls in the middle of the night.

What do other owners use as step/ladder for this purpose? Does it work well? Where do you stow it (both daytime and travel)?

We have the desire to continue our travels but the thought of a Face Plant on the floor in the middle of the night while off the grid is a scary prospect.

I know SMB sells a ladder that connects to the top bunk. They say its for a sprinter, but I don't know why it wouldnt work for you.

I've seen telescoping ladders as short as 6.5', so they must collapse quite small, and would see to be handy for that. Amazon, Home Depot, etc.

DO you have an open floor plan (living room style with couch/goucho in back of van?) or do you have a walk through style?
We have a walk through and use the gaucho then counter then bed...getting down reverse that...so far so good...we also have a folding step ladder that we have as an alternative (but) it is a blind step down to it from PH...so when the toes touch we have contact...I like the ladder option, but storing?

In my EB 50 I have a small step (that folds flat for storing) and go from the step to the countertop then up to the bed. The step fits behind the bench seat.

Go to sportmobile store online they have the folding ladder easy on the feet works great. I use it in my sprinter poptop

If you go that route (good to have; I use one outside) I'd recommend the B&R one. Some of the cheapos we've had fell apart and/or collapsed with not much use. https://www.amazon.com/Plastics-103-...%2C191&sr=8-50
