Econoline door mount ripping

I was adding some sound deadening to my door panels today when I noticed my driver side upper door mount ripping at the chassis. A quick google found other people that have ripped the mounts at the door, but I haven’t found anything about them ripping at the chassis. Has anyone seen this before?

It was an ambulance for most of its life, I’m guessing that where this happened, I am usually pretty gentle with my stuff.

Looks to me the door was blown open and exceeded the retention stop on the hinge. unfortunately we have that happen quite often when we have helicopter operations and the support vehicle door does not get closed all the way when the helicopter lands. This could have happen as well with just a big gust of wind. When this happen we take the vehicle to a body shop and they usually remove the fender and push the hinge back, reinforce the connection or replace the hinge.

That makes sense. This was one of the primary vehicles for getting people off Bear mountain/Big Bear ski areas. I bet it saw a couple helicopters in its day.

Off to the body shop, thanks for the reply.

Yes, unfortunately a common occurrence with Econoline doors and wind [emoji853] Happened to my dads van twice [emoji15]

I keep meaning to source and add straps to my 2011. Gotta get on that... cheap insurance.
