Econoline weather stripping

Has anyone successfully replaced the weatherstripping on an Econoline with barn doors? I have seen the surgical tubing mod and plan on doing that, but my old ambulance must have had bodies drug in and out of it because my stripping is shot. Finding dust all over inside after cruising dirt roads. Mixed results on-line and I want to make sure I don’t end up with something cheap. OEM is probably the best bet, but I’m looking for cheaper alternatives

Sorry for the late reply but honestly find and install the OEM stuff---you might find a nice set for the side doors in a scrap yard but you'd need to use new clips as the ones Ford use aren't re-usable. That's not a tough find, I have an AuVeCo part number that's fairly priced and work perfectly.

Once those seals are torn or shrunk due age you'll spend a lot time trying to rehab them and to varying success. I know buying new isn't the most affordable but I've never had to replace them even on my 2000 E250 that lives in Ohio. The do suffer when abused but I'm sure you'd be more careful than your previous owners.

I played that surgical tubing game. Ended up tearing the tubed stripping out and replacing with OEM. I got the tube size recommended in the YouTube videos, but it was way too thick and required a good hard slam to get the door to latch. I didn’t want that kind of wear and tear, not to mention the fact that I was always having to shut the door twice because it didn’t fully latch the first time. I suggest save your time and money and replace the stripping and do no surgical tubing.

sorry to bring this back from the dead, but is there a good resource for part numbers for the weather stripping on these vans?

The reason I ask is that it looks like 3C2Z-15253A10-AA is the "interior" (mounts to the body, not the doors) weather strip part number for the side barn doors, but every ford parts site has different fitments for it and some say its for the rolling door.

My local Ford dealer could only find the passenger front door stripping... I didn’t pursue it too much but can’t believe that it’s no longer available. The body hasn’t really changed much

I can confirm that 3C2Z-15253A10-AA was the correct part number for the body-mounted barn door seal on my 2011. I bought mine from FordPartsGiant.com, but I usually shop around for the lowest price as it can vary significantly between vendors (especially once shipping is added in). Lakeland Ford and Tasca parts are two others I've bought from, but make sure to check eBay vs. their online store prices to see which is the better deal.

For those without good or better dealership contacts (local or distant) I always suggest FordPartsGiant if only for their OEM part numbers. Once I have those the hunt begins---often times it'll be eBay where we find brand new unused parts, most times just sitting on someone's shelf.

I know the prices can be major shocks but in the end you'll have good quality stuff not too likely to fail or need replaced again soon.

Another option is to cruise scrap yards for most any E-Series body from 1992 until 2013 and salvage them there. IF you go that route being careful during removal as careless handling there results in them being torn. Using the right tool is important too---a Lisle Tools 36350 works wonders for me.

Also if you go the salvage parts route using AuVeCo p/n 19850 clip makes this job easier and quicker too. The Ford part number ( N806340-S) tends to reveal a crazy high price for EACH clip---upwards of $8 each!

If you need or want more help just ask---we should be able to help in some way.

At my local Pick n Pull I was able to get two vans' worth of weatherstripping and clips for every door for $40. Definitely the way to go if you have something similar nearby. All pieces were in excellent condition.

Greetings All -- regarding weatherstripping - I found this company that makes lots of possible options for w-stripping -- thinking on possibility that they may have a good replacement for penthouse exterior rubber gasket ?

Trim-Lok, Inc. - Buena Vista, CA - 1-888-874-6565 - ask for a catalogue and maybe a sample ?

I've spoken with them a few times and discussed my needs at the time---they'll typically send you a few small bits fitting your described needs. The catalog is useful but contains quite a few offerings with dimensions attached.

Worth a try OR someone here whose replaced that seal will have a suggestion too I'm sure.
