Does this affect those of us with pre-existing extended warranties? I'm counting on that extra 25K...

Good Sam Extended Warranty
Someone posted on the SMB Yahoo group (same subject) that Good Sam Club will issue an SMB 4x4 extended warranty $450 a year to include everything, including the motor home stuff (like the fridge) with a $500 deductible.

The warranty package cancellation does not affect existing plans and Ford still offers a plan for all Ford built 4x4s, but not Quigley which surprised me. We have Ford vans at work that are four wheel drive and I was told they were done by Quigley for the Ford corporation. According to Jay, these too are no longer availiable. If I were going Quigley I would check with them. I am looking at the Good Sam offer as well.

Re: Extended Warranties
Well, I just got a mailer frm FORD on an Extended Service Plan (ESP) that they are offering. It never describes it an an extended warranty, but is certainly sounds like one. 7yrs / 100k miles
I know that we had previously determined that the Ford Extended Warranty offering had disappeared, but now it sounds like given the current conditions, that FORD may be looking for a way to keep customers and a little more cash flow.

Re: Extended Warranties
Yesterday, I talked to James Minto, who works for Town Ford in Fresno (650-562-2225). When I asked him about getting an extended warranty, he said Ford was not giving any extended warranties for vans with an added 4X4.

Re: Extended Warranties
I was very surprised to get this mailer.
A lot of third party suppliers try to make their mailers look like they are manufacturers, so I looked at the this pretty closely to make sure it was really from FORD, and it does look like it.
I have not read the details of program yet. I will try and read it tonight.

Re: Extended Warranties
wouldn't surprise me. How about those of us that are too late now to enroll? Keep us informed.

Re: Extended Warranties
My 5 years ends this July. The van is in the shop right now with the turbo removed (TRL came on: "Turbo Replacement Light"). I do not know right now what the repair will be. I only have 33K TOTAL miles on the vehicle but this is my 3rd turbo. This visit should not cost more than $100 even if they put on turbo #4. Without the warrantee it would have been about $1000 to remove and repair (carbon?) and I think he told me once about $1800 to replace with a reman unit. Turbo #2 lasted 7000 miles and 362 days. Maybe this repair will have a 1 year coverage so I'll just drive it like I stole it. Very discouraging. I might do this once out of pocket but then I will sell the van. Getting the 6.0 diesel has been the worst consumer decision I've ever made.

Re: Extended Warranties
I called Ford regarding their extended warranty on the diesel engine 7yr/100,000mi. I also told them that the van was a 4wd conversion RV and they said no problem. The quoted me $1970 for the warranty.

I had coking (carbon deposits) this freezes up the vaiable pitch vanes. The turbo was cleaned and I got a new unison ring where the claim is that this is a upgraded design (different metal (nickel?) something is now larger - oh well you have to believe them. To be on topic I could have got the extended warranty but for me that is only 2 more years and $1850 so I'll just wing it. Now a mileage one I would have bought but that's not an option. For people like me who only drive 5-6,000 miles a year it would be nice!
Anyway, I'm researching fuel additives and maybe be running the engine more to keep that turbo turboing!
