My understanding is the turbo needs to be run every week or so. If it sits, it can corrode internally and fail. So the best advice to prevent turbo failures is to drive the van at least 20 miles (fully warm it up) once a week.

Before I did that, I had a turbo failure. Being a Sportsmobile may only see intermittent use (mine sat for 3 months between trips), turbo failures are common. Since I started driving it once a week between trips, no more problems in 40K miles.

Re: Extended Warranties

Hmm, doesn't bode well for me. The one we're buying sat for six months prior to our test drive last month. It's been sitting since then also, snug in a garage on a battery tender. Guess I will get that extended warranty.

Re: Extended Warranties

Extended warrentys are negotiable. Offer half and go from there.
