Fiamma awning mounting...any new news

I apologize if I missed a thread (I searched for quite some time considering the previous number of postings on the subject)
I am considering having Sportsmobile install a fiamma on my 2005 ford RB but I wanted to ask if anyone knew if Sportsmobile (West) mounting system has improved lessening the problems I have read so much about.
Otherwise does anyone have a solution, or vendor who may be able to perform a good install?
Thanks much

I'm working on the continuation of Eli's brackets. I think Chris at Ujoint is also. I should have word any day. My machine shop buddy has been slammed making impellers. I'll post when I have news.

Re: Fiamma awning mounting...any new news

Is this dead in the water?

My SMB supplied brackets were showing a lot of rust and peeling paint. I had our railing guy work on galvanizing and powder coating them. Unfortunately he thought the process would change the width too much so he re-welded the portion that attaches to the gutter and got his measurements wrong so they no longer fit properly. I could always buy another set from SMB, but I'm interested in a better solution if at all possible.

I had to re-install the SMB Fiamma brackets with a piece of stainless steel plate on the inside as a backing plate. No more silly rubber expando plugs. I fabricated the plate in my machine shop. Installation of the custom shape of the plate was a bitch, but I gotter dun. It's so strong now my vehicle can be lifted by the awning!

I would love to use a backing plate, however, I would have no clue how to access that part of the van and I'm not sure I want to even try. Besides, I would need someone to also fabricate the plate for me unless I used wood.

Any update on these? My smb formerly has smb west brackets which appear to have been removed/ripped off. Looking for the next version...
