State Farm advised me that Sportsmobiles are specialty vehicles and they do not finance them. This is why a specific agent that has worked with Sportsmobiles might be helpful.
Here is the score card
State farm- we do not finance sportsmobiles
LA Firefighters credit union-will only finace on a used van 25% of the selling price
RV loans r us- NADA value less than 50% of the selling price on a used one
Arrowhead credit union- will not finance a Sportsmobile
RV financing direct-NADA value
Help from Sportsmobile west or Texas = none
Help from this forum= none
I am however the proud owner of a brand new 4X4 E=350 Quigley that will be converted to a camper van by someone other than sportsmobile

Re: Financing Problems

Sounds Like congrats on your new Van are in order.
Also sounds like you found a lot of financing choices, just nothing that worked for you. Sorry we were not able to help you with that. But I can help you with finding some great off the beaten path campsites and great roads to explore.

Enjoy you new ride.

Ron

Re: Financing Problems

Good luck building your van. Sorry we couldn't help unless jage wants to start his own financing company. Funny when I did it i ran into similar roadblocks but when i just got an assessed value my credit union would lend it. Sandiego county credit union was great. San Diego fire credit union not so good.

Re: Financing Problems

Seattle, I just went through the same thing trying to buy my van. I have an 800+ credit score and no bank would touch me. I went to a local credit union, Northwest Community Credit Union, based in Oregon, and after 24 hours I had a check. Unfortunately, the rate is high (8%) because the loan is an "equipment loan", but with some comps and a few calls to Sportsmobile in Indiana, the Credit Union had a value and a check for me. I am flying to Indiana tonight to drive it back to Oregon. If you want a contact at the NWCU, hit me up.
