And tires. I just got my reminder from the NHTSA to check my tire pressure, since for some reason van tires get neglected more than any other vehicle. 74% of 12 and 15 passenger vans had severely mis-inflated tires (by at least 25%) in the recent NHSTA study. This compares to 39% for all cars.

But yeah. Throw a driver in a 10,000 pound vehicle, who has never driven anything with more than 5 seats before and doesn't understand that more weight changes handling characteristics, and bad things will happen

I know we are way off topic here, but I am almost always stunned at how few people realize this. Driving big trucks when I was younger and a SMB now has taught me a lot about vehicular physics and the importance of maintenance. I won't allow my kids to go on church or any other field trips in a passenger van unless I interview the driver first. Most think I'm a paranoid freak becuase of this.
