Front Shock Absorber Recommendations

Hello All-

I have a 2012 E250 RB.
5.4 liter
Quigley 4x4
87k miles

I have noticed some cupping on my front tires recently. This seems to manifest itself as a vibration at certain speeds.
Anyway, Im thinking my front shocks are shot. Currently they are OEMs

Any recommendations for replacements?
Bilstien?

(I have several BMWs and run Bilstiens on them with good results).

I will also be checking wheel bearing tonight.

Thanks,
John

I had the same issue until I replaced the ball joints. As for shocks, you can’t beat Fox, but there in very short supply.

If you have not done so, you might consider getting a RIP kit from Agile Offroad. It can certainly include their custom tuned shocks. A lot of folks have had very good results with their Quigley conversions after installing the RIP kit.

I have Bilstiens....and they work fine. Bilstiens (rears anyway...not sure about front shocks) are available in van valving and also in extra-stiff long E-series based RV valving.

As mentioned you may want to check your ball joints.

I just put some Bilsteins on Moby. The fronts are AFT33-062518 and the rears are AFT33-185606. So far I am very happy with the ride and handling with these shocks both on and off road.

Hey New2tx,
On your vehicle "Moby" how much lift do you have?
Also, I see your in Salt Lake...I travel there all the time bc my daughter lives there. Great area!

Thanks,
John

Hi John,
I have the standard Quigley lift on Moby. I think it is 4 inches. SLC is a great area, but it is smokey these days.

I was informed from Quigley that Bilstein 24-186674
would be a good choice to replace the front OEM units.

I am not finding any Ford reference for the Bilstein AFT 33-062518 mentioned by New2 tx.

New2TX - by any chance do you have a reference that indicated that these will work on our vans? I just want to make sure before ordering. Any info is appreciated.

They are what I have on mine. It looks like the PO might have added a stem to eyelet adapter.
