Our Reunel rear bumper came with a Hi-lift mount on the spare tire mount. It didn’t work so I rebuilt it and it works now. My plans are to rebuild the spare tire carrier to something that doesn’t rely on the door hinge to support it. I’ll try and get some pictures up on our album to show what we did.

I've used my Hi-Lift several times. I have stock Ford Van bumpers. I place the jack at the mounting brackets on the bumper. It would be safer with the adapter plate but I haven't gotten around to buying or making one. The chain around the axel idea is great. I hadn't thought of that. I carry my jack and a shovel on a home made bracket that slips into my front receiver. It's already survived a direct deer hit. The deer wasn't so lucky!

I've owned and used Hi-lift jacks for nearly 40 years. They are amazing if used properly. Need a come-along? Just bolt a couple of shackles in the right spots and bingo.
I used my jack once to move a 20 ton load of pine poles that had shifted to one side on my truck. I pulled up next to a big tree. Put the base against the tree and the foot into the chain around the load and moved everything back into place. I was in the middle of nowhere outside of Iland Park Idaho and the jack saved my ass. I love my jack!

Getting Hi

Chris ,
Instead of chaining up your axle you might want to try a heavy duty
3" or 4" ratchet strap , lighter , cleaner and easier to store .
There is a commercially made model now called the Jack Strap , go to
www.ledtrailerlights.com . I have used a 4" heavy duty trucker type strap for the last few years and found that it will provide me with
additional other functions as well .

Chris , try www.tellico4x4.com instead , the strap is made by Rim Rock Mountain at www.rimrockmtn.com

Thanks for that suggestion. I'll check out the strap. Chain IS a hassle.
