Another vote for the Montana. I have 4 of them and have used them around the world on Van, bike, boat (lake and offshore) and canoe trips. It isn't perfect, but nothing is, and it is by far the best GPS I have ever used. It can be tricky to get setup to your liking (there are multiple interface options) but they are easy to use, have a fast processor and a big, glove-friendly daylight-readable screen.
Also, you can get any type of map you want (marine, street, off-road, too), and often for free.
